Some of the most obvious signs of aging are caused by the loss (depletion) of facial volume of the fat, muscle and bone. Loss of volume causes hollows, wrinkles and drooping.
Thus recent methods have been developed to add volume by removing fat from other parts of the body and injecting the fat into the face. The common areas for fat injections are the hollows around the eyes and the brows and cheeks.
Addition of bone and muscle is not being done at present, but fillers of manufactured materials, and implants are also being used.
